JAMES HETFIELD

To me, James Hetfield has always been the definition of cool.  He's like a modern day James Dean except he wields an axe and likes to scream into a microphone!  The first time I met James Hetfield was in 1991 and he was wearing this cool ass light brown suede jacket with white fur on the inside.  That's all I remember, and the fact that he was very cool.  I've met James about 25 times since that day and for the most part he's always been pretty nice.  The best time of course was right around when this picture to the right was taken.  That is me backstage with James in Rockford, Illinois at a pre-show meet and greet before their Lollapalooza show.  The next night, James and Lars were guests at the radio station where I worked and I had the chance to spend about three hours with the guys.  They were down to earth, very relaxed and couldn't have been nicer.  I like to think of the guys in this manner.  It's hard to believe but after all of these years James continues to rock leading the free world of Metallica fans.
